Shakespeare’s Character Shows Us a True Psychological Analysis in Literature!!

Portrait of William Shakespeare
I am a student of literature and have read not only English Literature but other ones like French, German, Greek, Russian, Chinese, Brazilian and many other ones that are translated in English Language. I have come to one conclusion as there are so many literary masterpieces spread all over the world. But the earliest signs of going into the details of Human Psyche in Literary World is seen in the Plays by William Shakespeare!

Shakespeare seemed to be a pioneer who did not only present an outward storyline with grand happenings, but monologues and situation that classified different shades of Human Nature and Personality. It is just too much infused into the plot and structure of the plays. You can see that there are grand stories like King Lear, Hamlet, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth. But one thing is there and that is the presentation of a great drama with dialogues and monologues that are highlights of his literary masterpieces.

The Melancholic Monologues of Hamlet are the bottom-line of all the strength and power of the play. Similarly the talk of ghosts with Lady Macbeth in the play “Macbeth” shows the schizophrenic and in fact maniac signs that she faces with overpowering of Guilt and Crime. When we read of watch “Othello” then we are convinced by the complex thoughts of the lead character ‘Othello’, and even if we disagree with it. We can’t ignore that such signs and symptoms are easily seen and observed in environment around!

Even if we have a chance to go to some Psychic Rehabilitation Centers then we can see it wide and clear that patients with different mental disorders actually behave, act and talk in same manner. The Schizophrenic effects that are visible in self-monologues of Hamlet are so easily detectable in such rehabilitation centers. So he is a pioneer of exploration of psychological dimensions in different fields!!

So we can safely say that Shakespeare is truly a mentor and guide for not only the literary personality. In fact he made open the corridors of research for scientists and philosophers, to think about human nature and personality at a new paradigm. Present day’s Psychology owes a lot to this great man of English Literature.

Though we cannot ignore the masterpiece of Leo Tolstoy like “War and Peace” and “Anna Karenina”. It is not wrong if we say that all great personalities took inspiration for Shakespearean Ideologies and Theories. He is not the only one who created wonders with his pen and paper but truly stands out in his own way for all literature lovers and students!!
